Luna’s library days are made more special by the person she shares them with.

Luna Loves Library Day by Joseph Coelho and illustrated by Fiona Lumbers is not a recent publication. It was first published in 2017 but is the first time im sharing it here. The book is utterly lovely.

Fiona Lumbers draws you in with that beautiful front cover and then you’re immersed in Luna’s world. The colours and the details are all fantastic.

This was Joseph Coelho’s debut picture book and he brilliantly shares the happiness that library day can bring. For Luna one of the reasons being because she has time with her dad, as it is initially suggested to readers that the parents are not together. As the book is further explored you realise that this is the case and on occasions Luna shares this sadness, particularly when a library pick is shared in the story.

Luna and her dad explore various books, have fun, read together and as readers it is clear to see that their bond is so special. There are some lovely tender moments which are shared, you can see by swiping across.
Right from the end papers to the final pages of the book, the characters featured are telling you a story. There are some lovely surprises within the illustrations and the book is a great one for representing a positive male role model who relishes spending time with their daughter.
