Book review: Cities of the world by Becky Davies and illustrated by Josie Portilo.

Cities of the world by Josie Portilo

Twelve cities are included in this beautifully presented nonfiction read. Using peep through pages with colourful artwork throughout, this book is a keeper.

Cities explored in the book include Moscow, Tokyo, Dubai and Cairo. As well as informing readers with bitesize facts by Becky Davies about each city, you can see by swiping across, there is so much to observe amongst the detailed illustrations by Josie Portilo.

There is a world map double page spread where all the cities included in the read are then highlighted on the map. A brilliant way for readers to visually see where each of the cities are and understand how far some cities are from their home.

In addition to being an informative read, this would be a lovely book to use as a backdrop for small world play.
