This award winning search and find counting book is a rather cool and unique read. I absolutely love the artwork throughout. The book is written and illustrated by Kristin Roskifte and published by Wide Eye.
The book is a counting book based on people and it goes from 1 to 7.5 billion, the entire world! Each person belongs to a group and at each turn of page the amount of people increases. For example the book begins with a boy, 1 and then you see him with dad, 2 and then with his family 5.
Readers are then able to see the various people they have met in different settings and all the while the numbers keep increasing. In addition to that there is a little narration, sometimes rather witty about what different people are doing or thinking. At number 60 there is a wedding “Sixty people at a wedding. One of them catches the bridal bouquet. One of them wants to be somewhere else.”
There is so much detail on each spread and with the little narration it gives readers an opportunity to come up with their own stories. At the back of the book there are also challenges, asking different questions and to find various people. It’s great inclusive book.
