Welcome to my latest piece which is part of a blog tour with New Frontier Publishing for their book Extraordinary written by Penny Harrison and illustrated by Katie Wilson.
With its inviting shimmering front cover and a rather bold book title, I’m sure many will be intrigued by this book and let me assure you, you will not be disappointed.
This wonderfully illustrated book is an absolute treat as a read aloud with flowing rhythmic texts. Readers will be immersed amongst the brilliantly illustrated pages both detailed and oh so pretty to observe and at the heart of the book lies a rather important message.

Having wishes that you want to fulfil is certainly not a bad thing and amongst those wishes you may have extra special wishes, extraordinary perhaps. Let’s not forget the ordinary as that too is rather special, which this book Extraordinary highlights so well.

In a time when more awareness around mental health is being encouraged, the impact of mindfulness on young ones is also being observed. This book is a fabulous reminder that taking a moment, pausing amongst the busyness and allowing yourself to appreciate the ordinary is a wonderfully fulfilling experience. Those little moments that make you smile, that fill your heart with warmth and fulfil our curiosities are all special moments.

Author Penny Harrison so warmly captures tender moments of the ordinary successfully for young readers and alongside her rhyming text are the illustrations telling their own story too. Illustrator Katie Wilson has created such varied diverse double page spreads that capture many settings and seasons making it a truly engaging read.
The book is available in good book shops and I would recommend you keep a look out for it. Also, over on my Instagram, do keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway of this super book.
