Where our story begins home by Patricia Hegarty and Britta Teckentrup book review

Home Where Out Story Begins is a captivating read exploring various animal homes and the change of seasons.
“Wherever we may
choose to roam,
We need a place
to call our home.”

Complete with wonderful art work by Britta Teckentrup and skilfully written rhythmic text by Patricia Hegarty, this is a beautiful book.
Little bear introduces readers to various animals homes starting with the deep dark cave of their very own. Page by page readers witness the seasons changing and are presented with different facts that are naturally included into the text.
“Salmon head in from the shore,
Lay their eggs, swim home once more.”

As the book unfolds and winter approaches the bears prepare for hibernation.
My eldest appreciated the text, my younger daughter enjoyed the brilliantly detailed double page spreads and baby loved the die cut, peep hole details. A book loved by all three and one I’m hoping is released in a board book format. How lovely a gift it would be for the youngest of readers.
