“I am brown
I am beautiful…”
This wonderful read is published by Lantana Publishing. The book is written by Ashok Banker who has written many books for adults and now picture books. Illustrations are by the talented Sandhya Prabhat.
The smiley young girl invites readers along on a journey beginning with positive affirmations. She shares dreams and possibilities and introduces readers to her friends, who like her also have brown skin.
The books shares the various languages the group of children speak, the many countries they are from, the outfits they enjoy wearing, the various homes they live in and the delicious double page spread of a huge feast of yummy dishes.
The book subtly shares how though this group of children may all have brown skin their beliefs, likes and dislikes, hobbies and aspirations may all differ.
It’s also such a joyful read, a book that I believe should be on many a bookshelf as it encourages readers to be happy in who they are and comfortable in their own skin.
From the wonderful front cover to the gorgeously illustrated pages inside, the detailed art work beams happiness.
