Winter Sleep-A Hibernation Story is a newly published picture book by Words and Pictures. Written by Sean Taylor and Alex Morss with captivating illustrations by Cinyee Chiu, this would be a fantastic resource for a home and learning setting library.
Granny Sylvie’s house is by a wonderful forest perfect for exploring through the seasons. Her knowledge and wise words gently explain to her grandson all things nature. At winter we see that the trees are without leaves and the pond is frozen over. What about the animals, where are they?
This wonderfully illustrated read weaves narrative with nonfiction, informing readers all about hibernation. The book provides readers with observations of what a granny and grandson witness together, but also provides additional information about minibeasts, mammals and more and how they survive the winter months.
The book is such an inviting read and an ideal pick to welcome in winter. Though our surroundings may look a little different and is far quieter then normal, the book shares the splendour of observing our surroundings even closer.
