A Superhero is written by Dr Ranj and illustrated by Liam Darcy. The book is published by Hachette. The book is a positive, uplifting book that questions the meaning of superhero.

Whilst having a discussion with her mum, Lily talks about the kind of superhero she would like to be. Readers are introduced to a variety of people working as teachers, doctors, firefighters, carers, scientists and more.

Lily wants to make a difference and Dr Ranj brilliantly explains that superheroes can be individuals completing jobs such as those mentioned. The world around our young readers has changed so much and I’m sure this will be a book that encourages lots of discussion and perhaps be one that they can relate to if someone they know is a key worker.

Dr Ranj was keen for his picture book to be representative of reality around us and Liam Darcy has done a brilliant job at illustrating an engaging book where many children can see themselves. His illustrations are bright and cheery and I’m sure many fans of Dr Ranj will get excited at spotting him.

35p from each book sale will go towards NHS Charities Together.
This would be a lovely book for home and a learning setting giving readers an insight into the world of work.
