Book review: Pip and Posy: The Big Balloon

Pip and Posy: The Big Balloon by Axel Scheffler.

Book published by Nosy Crow.

This fantastic book is written by Nosy Crow and talented by the Axel Scheffler.

The book is based on two friends, Pip, a rabbit and Posy, a mouse. In this story Pip has a lovely red balloon that everyone admires but it soon pops leaving him very sad. His dear friend Posy has an idea on how she can cheer her friend up.

I would highly recommend this book. It represents what friendship is all about, helping, caring and having fun. I adore how Pip has a problem but his friend Posy takes it upon herself to help her friend out. What a good example of a good friend.

The text used in this paperback copy is perfect for beginner readers and its capitalisation and enlarging of particular words will guide the reader on what’s happening in the story as well as what sort of expression to use. For example, ‘BANG!’ The words used are simple for toddlers upwards to understand.

The book is filled with gorgeous, colourful illustrations which highlight clearly the feelings of each character at different points of the story.

Little One and I love this book.
